The Mid-Prairie boys and girls cross country teams won both the team and individual races in the small school division at Central College's course Saturday morning.
Mid-Prairie sophomore Thaddeus Shetler had an impressive race, running 17:31 to win the boys race by eight seconds. Shetler improved his time from last week's race by 44 seconds. It was the first career win for Shetler.
The boys team finished with 26 points, besting the other seven schools in the Class 1A and 2A division. Jamison Stutzman was second on the team in 17:48 and Chandler Hershberger fifth in 17:50.
Junior Lucas Bontrager was seventh in 18:32 and Nathan Wallington finished out the scoring in ninth in 18:40.
Other varsity boys included freshman Mose Yoder in 19:25 and Luke Albright in 30th at 20:22.
Marie Hostetler easily won the girls race, finishing with a time of 18:12. She held off second place Abby Ryon of Mount Pleasant by over a minute.
The Mid-Prairie girls team won the overall team race and the small school division. They bested Norwalk in the overall race by 23 points.
Mid-Prairie took spots 7-8-9 with Abbagail Evans, Mitzi Evans and Sydney Yoder coming in. Angelina Evans was the final scorer in 17th place.
Ana Fleming was 22nd in 22:02 and Jaden Yoder 28th in 22:23.
