Mid-Prairie’s softball team broke out its offensive attack in a big way Thursday.
The Golden Hawks won their first game of the season, 11-3 over Camanche at Mid-Prairie Middle School, totaling 17 hits and reaching a season high in runs scored.
Leading the hit parade were sophomores Madeline Schrader and Landry Pacha, and junior Dawsyn Miller, who each had three hits. Schrader scored three runs, and drove in three with a single and two doubles. Miller had a triple and also drove in three runs.
Senior pitcher Myah Lugar and junior third baseman Katelyn Schneider added two hits apiece.
Lugar struck out four and pitched all seven innings.
After falling behind 1-0, the Golden Hawks (1-6) scored two runs in the second inning, four runs in the third and three runs in the fourth to take control.
Camanche dropped its seventh straight game.

Sellers had three hits in the opening game for Mid-Prairie, and Lugar had three hits over the two games.
Sellers hit a home run, Lugar drove in two runs on two hits, and eighth-grader Dakota Mitchell added two hits in the Game 1 loss as the Golden Hawks scored a season-high total of eight runs against a River Valley Conference opponent on June 1 at Mid-Prairie Middle School.
The Golden Hawks piled up 13 hits as they attempted to overcome an eight-run deficit.
Durant (4-5) scored eight runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead. The Golden Hawks answered with two runs in the first inning, one run in the second, two runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth.
Lugar started in the circle for Mid-Prairie, striking out four in 5.1 innings. Landry Pacha, a sophomore, followed up with 1.2 innings, giving up just one run.
Durant struck quickly again in the nightcap against Mid-Prairie starter Dawsyn Miller, scoring three runs in the first inning. The Chiefs added two runs in the third, five runs in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Lugar, Katelyn Schneider, Brittany Kinsinger and Pacha had Mid-Prairie’s hits against Durant pitcher Kylie Schult.
Schult struck out two in her five-inning shutout victory, and also led the Chiefs with five hits in the two games.
