There is a new building going up in the 600 block of B Avenue in downtown Kalona.
The new structure is being built by Steve Maxon, who owns Max-Cast Sculpture and Foundry Services, which is adjacent to the new building.
Maxon said that the first floor of the building will house two commercial spaces.
“We’ll probably rent one out and use the other for us as a pattern shop,” Maxon said last week.
The second floor will house two apartments that Maxon plans to rent out.
Each level is about 1,800 square feet.
Maxon said that he does not have a definitive timetable regarding when the building will be completed.
“We’ll have to see how the money goes,” he joked.
