Macy Marek of Riverside received the award for Leadership Excellence from the Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Student Council.
This award is given to a graduating senior based on involvement within clubs and organizations while at Iowa State University.
While at Iowa State, Marek has held several leadership roles in Block & Bridle and Bacon Expo, participated on the livestock judging team, served as a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences ambassador, is a member of Alpha Zeta Honors Fraternity and Cardinal Key Honor Society, and participated in several study abroad trips.
Additionally, she is a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, has participated in Greek Week and homecoming activities, and was in the President’s Leadership Class.
“Macy’s resume shows many leadership titles, yet it isn’t the titles that make her a leader,” Jenna Rasmusson, 2019 president of CALS Council, said. “She gained leadership skills by learning to work with different people with a common goal in mind, listening more to what others are saying and understanding before speaking.”
Award recipients will be recognized at the college convocation event Dec. 20.
