LONE TREE

The Lone Tree FFA Chapter, under the direction of their new Advisor and Agriculture Education teacher, Mr. Payton Lorack, is off to a busy start. The 23/24 Chapter has 49 active members and is led by the Officer Team of Kelly Marshek, Bailey McGrew, Cate Sexton, Cade Willoz, Haiden Gauley, and Carter Schott.

September

Farm Safety Day.  The fifth-grade class came out to learn about how to be safe on the farm. There were multiple stations including tractor safety, animal care, fire and chemical, and many more.

Test Plot Night. Test Plot night was a success! We had our FFA members come out and learn about different hybrids and varieties of corn in the test plot. Thank you to Stutsman’s for your support this year with the test plot.

October

SE District Greenhand Fire-Up. First-year Lone Tree FFA Members traveled to Cedar Rapids Prairie to attend the Southeast District Greenhand Fire-Up. Our 16 Greenhands joined 653 members from 40 chapters across our district to participate in workshops that focused on leadership, emphasizing experiences that occur in the lives of beginning high school students.

Harvest Meals.  On Oct. 10 members helped package and deliver Harvest Meals. Thank you, farmers!

Trunk or Treat.  On Saturday, a few of our FFA members participated in the Johnson County Fairgrounds Trunk or Treat. They had a ton of fun and enjoyed representing Lone Tree FFA.

November

National Convention.  Eight members traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to participate in the FFA National Convention, attending many sessions, field trips and of course a concert.

December

IAT Conferences.  Six of our members woke up bright and early to travel to Ankeny to attend the IAT conference. They learned about leadership, how to be a teammate, their why in FFA and made connections with other members across the state of Iowa.

Annual Stutsman’s Appreciation Breakfast.  On Friday morning, we had several FFA members wake up early to make breakfast for the wonderful Stutsman’s employees. We are so appreciative of all the incredible things that Stutsman’s contributes to our FFA chapter.
