LONE TREE
The Lone Tree Lions lost to the Pekin Panthers 64-63 on Friday, Dec. 15, in a tightly contested back-and-forth matchup. Despite the loss and a record of 4-4, no one can question the quick turnaround of this Lion basketball program.
The Lions concluded their 2022-23 season with a record of 7-16 - including a 74-58 loss to Pekin.
They're now just three games back from their season total a year ago with nearly two months to play.
Lone Tree wasted no time by holding a 14-8 lead after one quarter. At halftime, Lone Tree was behind 28-27.
The second half was a constant back-to-back where neither team could solidify a lead.
Lone Tree would seize a lead and the crowd would erupt.
Pekin would reclaim the lead and the visiting fans would quiet the home crowd.
Lone Tree would re-take the lead and the fans would deafen the visiting ears.
It took a very late three-pointer from Pekin's Kasey Davis to create enough distance for the win.
Lone Tree will next play Tri-County on Monday, Dec. 18, and WACO on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Both games are on the road.
