At the regular meeting of the Lone Tree City Council on Monday, Jan. 4, the council was presented with the Water Fluoridation Award for 2019 by Becky Hackett-Leas from Johnson County Public Health.
“The CDC recognizes water fluoridation as one of the top ten greatest public health achievements of the 20th Century, and it continues to be very important yet today, even considering the products that have fluoride in them, such as toothpaste and mouthwash,” Hackett-Leas said. “It is known that water fluoridation is a relatively inexpensive mode of fluoridation and is highly effective at preventing about 25% of cavities in both adults and children.”
In other news, the council passed a resolution to set the mileage reimbursement rate for all trips that the mayor, council members or city employees travel in their own car at 56 cents per mile.
The council also set two public hearings: The SF634 Max Levy public hearing will be held as the first item during the regular February meeting on Feb. 1 and the FY22 Budget public hearing will be held during the regular March meeting on March 1.
