On Wednesday, Dec. 2, Iowa House Speaker Pat Grassley announced that Jarad Klein, the Iowa House representative from District 78, will serve as the chair of the House Public Safety Committee during the 89th General Assembly.
Klein has served as the Public Safety chairman since 2019 and has served in the Iowa House since 2011.
“Rep. Klein is an experienced legislator who has always worked to make our communities and neighborhoods safe for all,” Grassley said. “He will continue to make this a top priority when we convene in January.”
During the 88th General Assembly (Jan. 14, 2019-Jan. 10, 2021) Klein also sat on the agriculture, commerce, environmental protection, government oversight and judiciary committees.
Klein defeated Democratic challenger Kimberly Davis with 67.9% of the vote during last month’s general election. He lives in Keota, where he works in production agriculture, the fifth generation to live on his family’s farm. He is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Washington County Pork Producers, Washington County Farm Bureau, Iowa Soybean Association, and Iowa Corn Growers Association.
