At 6:30 p.m., April 30, the Kalona Planning and Zoning Board will conduct a public hearing to present and discuss proposed subdivision ordinance changes.
This will be an opportunity for the public to weigh in on the changes prior to P&Z making its recommendation to the City Council.
Some of the changes to the new subdivision ordinance being presented include:
• 170.54 Open Space Dedication: Ability for P&Z and City Council to utilize trails plans and comprehensive plans for future land dedications for open spaces, neighborhood parks and trail connectivity.
• 170.52 Improvements Required: Sidewalks are a critical part to our community and P&Z has worked hard to make sure that in new developments that undeveloped lots after seven years of 75% of the lots have been developed that sidewalks at a minimum of one side of each street within the development are completed with a minimum of 2-inch layer of Portland concrete cement.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the city is offering the ability for the public to participate through a conference line.
To access the line during public meetings, call 319-656-2663 and utilize the participant code 447334.
The public may access the proposed subdivision ordinance by accessing www.cityofkalona.org and there is a link on the left side of the homepage. Questions can be directed to City Hall at 319-656-2310.
