At the Nov. 4 Kalona City Council meeting, Mayor Ken Herington was honored for his service on the Washington County Communications Commission.
Wellman Mayor Ryan Miller, chairman of the commission, presented Herington with a plaque commemorating his service.
The plaque reads, “In grateful appreciation for your years of service and dedication to the Washington County Communications Commission and Washington County 911.”
“You’ve done a great job and represented Kalona really well,” Miller said.
County Supervisor Jack Seward Jr., who also serves on the commission, added, “Ken has been a wise and steady hand.”
Herington, who is leaving office when his term expires at the end of this year, estimated that he has served on the commission for about 10 years.
