The Kalona Golf Club hosted a parent-child golf tournament in July, with parents playing alongside their kids in a multi-format event.
The tournament is the week after the youth camp hosted at the course and is aimed at keeping kids golfing during the summer.
“This is a fun event, geared toward getting the kids back out on the golf course after their week of junior camp to show off their skills and spend some time with parents or grandparents,” Tracy McArtor said. “A special thanks to Kalona Tire for their sponsorship of this event and to Hills Bank for their help with prizes.”
Denver and Steve Nelson won the tournament with a score of 28 over par. Steve Nelson also paired with his daughter Noelle and they placed third.
The tournament format included kids teeing off from each hole twice before playing alternate shot to the green.
From there, teams play best shot format until finishing up the hole.
