The city of Kalona is following the county’s lead and joining other area towns closing their city halls.
Kalona City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh said Tuesday that beginning Wednesday, Kalona City Hall will be closed to the public.
“We’ll still have staff in the building,” Schlabaugh said. “They will be able to take calls.”
Residents can still drop off city utility payments in the drop box or pay online. The city’s website is cityofkalona.org.
“If someone needs to make an in-person appointment, they can call us to arrange that,” Schlabaugh said.
He said that no re-opening date is set as of now.
“We’ll continue to monitor the situation and follow the county’s lead,” Schlabaugh said.
