The Johnson County Fair got underway Sunday with its 25th Annual Fair Queen Pageant.

Francesca Brown was named 2019 Johnson County Fair queen, and Ashley Yedlik was named fair princess.

Brown, the daughter of Bart and Kathy Welsh Brown, attends City High School in Iowa City and is a member of the East Lucas Clovers 4-H Club.

Yedlik, the daughter of Joel and Mary Ellen Yedlik, attends Lone Tree High School and is a member of both the Ramblin Recks and Rosies 4-H Club and the Lone Tree FFA.

In keeping with the 25th anniversary theme, contestants were asked where they see themselves at age 25.

“By the age of 25, I hope to have achieved financial independence and have a degree in biology or aerospace engineering,” Brown said.

“By the time I turn 25, I hope to have graduated from college and pursue a career where I can impact people’s lives in a positive way,” Yedlik said. “I would also love to continue my career in 4-H and help volunteer at my local county fair.”
