Jo A. “Poe” Pratt, 59, of Kalona, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at the Washington County Hospital following a lengthy illness. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Jo A. “Poe” Pratt was born August 22, 1962, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of David K. and Kay E. (Mangold) White. She was united in marriage to Doug Pratt on July 13, 1992, in Washington.

Poe was a stay-at-home mom, caretaker, and babysitter. She also worked at the Washington YMCA in housekeeping. She was baptized at the Brighton Community Church and enjoyed racing, reading Amish books, music, waterfalls, watching eagles, and spending time with the grandbabies.

Survivors include her husband: Doug of Kalona; two sons: Ryan Wolcott of Central City and Stacy (Erin) Wolcott of Kalona; three grandchildren: Keaton, Kamden and Kylie Wolcott; and one sister: Sherry “Kayla” Swailes of West Chester.

Preceding Poe in death were her parents: Paul and Kay Johnson; in-laws: Duwayne and Rosemary Pratt; grandparents: Stanley and Betty Mangold; brother-in-law: Bruce Swailes; brother: Jim White; nephew: Ryan Shafer; and two uncles: Richard and Bill Mangold.
