James “Jim” Junior Ehrenfelt

James “Jim” Junior Ehrenfelt was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of James Russell and Lavada (Gingerich) Ehrenfelt. He attended Mid-Prairie High School. On April 6, 1950, Jim was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Miller at the Baptist Church Parsonage in Wellman

In his earlier years, he worked for Wilson’s Meat Packing in Cedar Rapids, Amana Refrigeration, drove a school bus for Mid-Prairie Schools and later was a co-owner and operator of Kalona and Wellman Ready Mix.

Jim was a member of the Wellman Baptist Church and the VFW in Richmond. He enjoyed gardening tomatoes, playing cards and having a beer or two with friends. Jim died on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at Halcyon House in Washington at the age of 88 years.
He is survived by his wife: Virginia of Wellman; daughter: Kathy West of Wellman; son: Larry Ehrenfelt of Garden City, Kan.; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a brother: Bill Ehrenfelt of Wellman.

He was preceded by his parents and a brother: Kirk Ehrenfelt.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are for the Wellman Fire Department and First Responders. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
