J. (John) Edward Yoder, 87, of Goshen, Ind., formerly of Kalona and Donnellson, Iowa, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020,  at his residence.

He was born Sept. 3, 1932, in Kalona, to Edward and Anna (Ropp) Yoder. On Oct. 11, 1953,  in Kalona, he married Mildred Brenneman. She died Oct. 22, 2009. On March 26, 2016, in Goshen, he married Treva Miller.

J. Edward was a farmer, carpenter and a salesman. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Conservative Mennonite Church. He was a former member of Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church in Kalona and New Boston Conservative Mennonite Church in Donnellson. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. He was passionate about his faith and loved his family.

Survivors include his wife: Treva; nine children: Steve (Debbie) Yoder of Moravian Falls, N.C., Alfred (Alma) Yoder of Irwin, Ohio, Tom (Ida) Yoder of Donnellson, Iowa, Clair Yoder of Argyle, Iowa, Zonya (John) Stoltzfus of Atglen, Pa., George (Lorene) Yoder of Leon, Iowa,  Jason (Rose) Yoder of Bristol, Ind.,  Alesia Yoder of Strasburg, Pa., and Stuart Yoder of Kalona; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Alton (Susie) Yoder and Marvin (Elizabeth) Yoder both of Crofton, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; four sisters: Viola Schlabach, Edna Mae Yoder, Dorothy Miller and Lydia Miller; four brothers: Sylvanus, Thomas, Lewis Yoder, and Christian Yoder. A funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, at Pleasant Grove Conservative Mennonite Church, Goshen. Services were conducted by Pastors Roy Rhodes and Jonathan Zimmerman. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 1, 2020,  at Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church, Kalona. Services were conducted by Pastor John Hershberger. Burial was in Fairview Mennonite Cemetery, Kalona.
