Ireta June Gingerich was born June 1, 1922, in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Omer and Ollie (Miller) Gingerich.  She has lived in the Kalona community all of her life.  June attended Snake Hollow rural school and graduated from Kalona High School.  She was a certified dental assistant and worked at the University of Iowa Dental College for 25 years, retiring in 1987.  June was a charter member of Kalona Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible school.  June was a key player of a few women who entertained many groups with singing and comedy through the years.  She was a charter member of the Kalona Lioness Club.  June served on the Care Review Board and volunteered her time at the Pleasantview Home.  June died on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 97 years.

June has no immediate family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Lois Gingerich, and a brother Burdett Gingerich.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona.  Rev. Scott Swartzendruber officiated.  Burial was in the South Gingerich Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for Pleasantview Home and Iowa City Hospice.
