Louisa-Muscatine spoiled the home opener for the Highland volleyball team on September 3.
The Huskies won two of the first three sets, but Louisa-Muscatine, playing its season opener, came back for the victory, winning by scores of 23-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-10, 15-8.
Dani Laughlin, a sophomore, and Carsen Mellinger, a junior, led the Huskies (2-4) with six kills each. Laughlin also had 16 assists.
Payton Brun, a freshman who had already become a force for the Huskies defensively, had a career-high 10 blocks. She leads the team with 12 blocks this season.
Grace Batcheller, a junior, had three aces from the serving line, and also added a block and a kill up front.
The Huskies rallied from two points down in the third set to win it, 26-24.
Louisa-Muscatine finished strongly. Ahead 16-10 in the fourth set, the Falcons scored nine straight points to end the set and force a fifth set. They scored the first four points of the final set and cruises ahead by a 9-2 score before the Huskies attempted a comeback.
Highland is home to Pekin on Thursday night.
