Callie Huber’s rebounding muscle helped the Golden Hawks grab a pair of victories last week.
Huber scored her third consecutive double-double Friday, Dec. 15, in a 55-42 River Valley South victory over Durant. She scored a game-high 16 points and had a game-high 14 rebounds.
Huber, a junior, has emerged as the top rebounder in the River Valley South and is No. 6 in the state.
Senior guard Nora Pennington added 15 rebounds, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the Golden Hawks.
Mid-Prairie (6-2) scored 20 points in the opening quarter to take a 13-point lead and then cruised to its eighth consecutive win against Durant (2-6).
Brylee Gearhart added 9 points for the Golden Hawks, and freshman guard Brooklyn Schneider had 6 points and a team-high 5 steals.
Mid-Prairie’s only losses this season have been to eighth-ranked Benton and River Valley North’s Northeast, which won its first four games.
The Golden Hawks face top-ranked Solon on Thursday at Solon.
Mid-Prairie 78, Wilton 37
In a Dec. 12 game at Wilton, Brooklyn Schneider and Callie Huber both hit career highs in scoring as the Golden Hawks topped 70 points for the second time this season.
Schneider scored a game-high 21 points and Huber scored a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Mid-Prairie scored 24 points in the opening quarter and took a 19-point lead against the Beavers (2-6).
Nora Pennington added 13 points and a game-high 5 steals for the Golden Hawks, and Jovi Evans had 12 points and a team-high 4 assists.
Emerson Guyer and Kinsey Drake each scored 8 points for Wilton.
