Hillcrest Academy is exploring its options to hold some sort of graduation ceremony.
“We are in the early stages of the decision-making process,” Principal Dwight Gingerich said Tuesday morning. “I have a meeting with seniors today, and we will also survey our parents.”
Hillcrest has considered a virtual graduation ceremony or something outside in a larger space with fewer guests.
Commencement was originally scheduled for May 24.
“Virtual (ceremony) could technically be that weekend, or in early June,” Gingerich said. “Any open space option would have to be later in summer.”
He added that they have ruled out doing a regular commencement service at a later time.
“It’s also possible another option will emerge,” Gingerich said. “We hope to make a decision in the next two weeks so that we can plan well.”
He added that any decision will adhere to state guidelines.
“I would just add that we will be sensitive to and seek to follow any guidance that we receive from the state around graduation,” he said.
