After a year off due to COVID-19 restrictions, Hillcrest Academy is excited to get back to the traditional recipe for their Homecoming and Alumni Family weekend.
This year’s event weekend is October 1-2 and will include all the traditional events like the alumni volleyball and soccer games, the Joetown Classic 5K, and the annual Pork Supper.
Plus, a new feature this year will be the unveiling of the commissioned painting, ‘Hillcrest’ by Kara Slaubaugh (’11). This was originally planned as part of last year’s 75-year anniversary celebration, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they needed to postpone the event. Signed, limited edition prints will be available to purchase on campus and on the school’s website.
“We are excited to welcome folks back on campus for Homecoming. Being together as a community is a big part of who we are and it’s something we just haven’t been able to do in the past year,” said Director of Advancement Jeremy Ours. “We are thankful to be able to get back to doing the things that feel normal and want everyone to know we will continue to be diligent and intentional in creating a place where people feel safe.”
Ours also mentioned another celebration which will take place as the school recognizes members of the 1996 State Runner-up Cross-Country team at the Joetown Classic, as well as the 1996 Fall Soccer State Runner-up team at the alumni soccer game. He encourages the community to join parents, grandparents and former players as they celebrate the 25-year anniversaries of their accomplishments.
If the community has questions about Homecoming events, contact the school for more information.
