The Huskies had been there before. Facing the goal line with just seconds left on the clock, Highland had been denied earlier this year. This time they came away the winner.

Connor Grinstead crossed into the end zone on a quarterback sneak as time expired and Owen Donovan converted the point-after attempt to give Highland a 25-24 victory.

The Huskies drove 60 yards over the final 2:16 of the game to set up the touchdown.

Pekin struck first in the game, with Dayne Eckley scoring at the 7:57 mark of the first quarter. Grinstead got Highland on the board with his first rushing touchdown of the night to make it 7-6 halfway through the second quarter.

Pekin took a 14-6 lead into halftime and increased it to 21-6 at the 8:58 mark of the third quarter.

Owen Donovan took the next kickoff back 78 yards for a score and to cut the lead to 21-12.

After a Pekin field goal, the Huskies got a touchdown on a pass from Grinstead to Zane Arnold.

The last-second touchdown and extra point put Highland over the top for the victory.

The Huskies are now 4-2 and 2-1 in district play.
