Highland hosted the first ever Four Corners Shootout on Friday night, with both the Huskies and Lone Tree picking up wins in the opening games.

Lone Tree battled Iowa Valley and beat them 46-41. The Lions led for the last 18 minutes of the game after taking a 15-12 on a Holley Johnson three-point play. Johnson was the leading scorer for Lone Tree with 15 points.

After leading 34-24 at the end of three quarters, Lone Tree's lead quickly dwindled to 37-36 with 5:10 left in the game. At that point, the Lions worked the ball inside to forwards Kasey Chown and Josie Mullinnix to close out the game. The two combined for the final seven points to close out the victory over Iowa Valley.

The win places them in the final against Highland, who beat Keota 78-21. The Huskie press never left the game in doubt as Highland took a 10-1 lead within the first three minutes of the game.

Highland finished the night with four scorers in double digits. Dani Laughlin had 17, Abbi Stransky 12, Alyssa Brase 10 and Jenna Sands 10. Laughlin and Stransky are freshman, playing in their first varsity game for Highland.

The Highland defense forced countless turnovers throughout the night to lead to easy scoring opportunities. Ten Highland players scored at least one point during the game.

Stransky led Highland on the boards with six, Mackinze Hora had five and Dakota Longbine had five.

The second night of the tournament will start with Keota vs. Iowa Valley at 6 p.m. Highland and Lone Tree will play to determine the winner following that game.
