Mid-Prairie’s volleyball team began the season with three consecutive wins.
The Golden Hawks did not lose a set in its first three matches, led in part by seniors Tori Boyse (team-leading 15 kills), Myah Lugar (13 kills) and Phelan Hostetler (6 blocks).
The Golden Hawks opened the season by sweeping English Valleys and Tri-County on August 24 at the Keota Tournament. They also swept Washington in three sets this past Thursday in Washington.
Mid-Prairie faces West Branch in its home opener on Thursday night in Wellman.
Boyse’s 10 kills led the Golden Hawks to their seventh consecutive victory over Washington since 2017.
Mid-Prairie won the first set, 25-16, and cruised from there as a large contingent of fans made the trip south from Wellman. The Hawks won the second set, 25-10, and completed the sweep with a 25-22 win in the third set.
Alyssa McDowell, with 4 blocks, and Hostetler, with 3 blocks, were a force along the net defensively. Paige Peiffer, a senior, had three digs.
Boyse added four aces from the serving line.
Lugar had nine kills in two matches in the Keota Tournament, including seven in a two-set sweep of English Valleys.
The Golden Hawks made quick work of the opener, defeating English Valleys by 25-8 and 25-2 scores.
Maddie Edgington and Peiffer each had three aces, and Hostetler had three blocks.
Mid-Prairie spread out its offense statistically in its 25-10, 25-12 victory over Tri-County.
Lugar, Peiffer and Hostetler each had two kills, and Edgington had a season-five five aces.
No Tri-County player had more than one kill.
