WELLMAN

Before taking a break for the holidays, the Golden Hawks held a senior night quadrangular against River Valley Conference opponents Wilton, West Liberty, and Anamosa on Dec. 18.

The Mid-Prairie girls found plenty of success wrestling on their home mat in front of a supportive crowd, defeating Anamosa, 36-27, and Wilton, 42-30. They only lost one dual, falling to West Liberty, 42-36.

These two wins and one loss give Mid-Prairie a 6-4 dual record on the season.

After their first duel of the night Mid-Prairie honored its seniors: Ellie Brenneman, Shelby Stacy, and Gabi Robertson.

In her first match of the quad, Mid-Prairie’s Ellie Callahan at 170 pinned Wilton’s Zena Schubich in 32 seconds. Riding her momentum from one match to another, Callahan won her next contest in an even faster fashion. She defeated West Liberty’s Angelique Bonilla in 19 seconds.

Callahan’s third match against Anamosa’s Isabella Taylor ended up going the distance. Going two for three on the night, Callahan was defeated by Taylor by way of a 6-2 decision.

Also collecting victories for Mid-Prairie at this quad was Gabby Gingerich at 120, Shelby Stacy at 235, Ruby Miller at 105, Taylor Pence at 140, Austyn Sexton at 115, Mardie Berry at 155, and Becca Westfall at 110.
