Statewide Results

    As of this writing, the general election is still undecided on a national level but results from Iowa came in late on Election Night. These results are still unofficial, as they have not yet been certified, but election officials do not anticipate changes at this time.

    Donald Trump and Mike Pence won the presidential ticket in Iowa, earning 53.1% of the vote compared to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s 44.88%. Jo Jorgenson and Jeremy Cohen, of the libertarian party, recorded 1.16% of Iowans' votes. No other candidate received more than 1% of total votes.

    Joni Ernst (R) defeated Teresa Greenfield (D) for the US Senate seat, winning 51.75% of the vote to Greenfield’s 45.14%.

    Three of the four US Representative races were very close, with the seat won by Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks (49.95%) over Democrat Rita Hart (49.87%) decided by less than 1%. Ashley Hinson (R) defeated Abby Finkenauer (D) with 51.25% of the vote.

    In US Representative District 3, Democrat Cindy Axne won 48.94% of the vote to defeat Republican David Young. In US Representative District 4, Randy Feenstra (R) defeated J.D. Scholten (D) with 61.99% of the vote.

    Amy Nielsen, who ran unopposed for State Representative, District 77, collected 96.83% of the vote. Jarad Klein (R) defeated challenger Kim Davis (D) with 67.88% of the vote in Iowa House District 78.

Washington County Results

    In Washington County, Donald Trump and Mike Pence collected 59.25% of the vote, compared to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s 38.77%. Libertarian candidates Jo Jorgenson earned 1.22% and no other candidates broke 1%.

    Mariannette Miller-Meeks won by a larger margin in Washington County than she did statewide, earning 58.66%.

    The Republican candidate for the State Senate, District 42, Jeff Reichman defeated Democrat Rich Taylor with 71.97% of the vote.

    Jarad Klein (R) collected 64.34% of the Washington County vote for State Representative District 78, defeating challenger Kim Davis (D).

    In the State Representative, District 84 race Republican candidate Joe Mitchell won 79.56% of the vote to defeat Democrat Jeff Fager.

Johnson County Results

    Johnson County broke from the statewide trend with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris winning 70.2% of the vote compared to Donald Trump and Mike Pence’s 27.2%. Libertarian candidate Jo Jorgenson received 1.14% of the Johnson County vote.

    Teresa Greenfield (D) earned 67.77% of the vote for US Senator, defeating Joni Ernst who collected 28.23%. Libertarian candidate Rick Stewart earned 1.64%.

    For House District 73, Democrat Lonny Pulkrabek defeated the Republican candidate, Bobby Kaufmann by only 428 votes, earning 53.26%.

    Dave Jacoby (D, District 74), Amy Nielsen (D, District 77), Christina Bohannan (D, District 85), and Mary Mascher (D, District 86) all won unopposed races.
