A memorial Mass of Christian burial for Elaine A. Lee, 79, of Santa Ana, Calif., will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond, Iowa, with Father Bill Roush officiating. Elaine Lee died Jan. 22, 2020, in Santa Ana, Calif.
Elaine Ann (Duwa) Lee was born April 15, 1940, in Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence “Doc” and Agnes (Bopp) Duwa. She was united in marriage to Fred Lee on April 11, 1959, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond. Elaine enjoyed gardening, walking, making beautiful award-winning quilts, traveling the United States with Fred in their motorhome and painting beautiful oils. She also loved her grandchildren, cooking with them, watching their sporting events and just spending time with them.
Survivors include three children: Lorie Markowitz and her children Alexandra Cartoon and Justin Markowitz, Todd (Nancy) Lee and their children Amber, Sabrina and Megan Lee and Brian (Teresea) Lee and their children Kevin and Olivia Lee; six siblings: Lucille (Leroy) Duwa, Cleola Schneider, and Dolores Krotz all of Iowa City, Irma (Dennis) Althenhofen of Washington, Dean (Connie) Duwa of Ainsworth and Janet (Merle) Hagie of Washington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding Elaine in death were her parents; her husband: Fred Lee; two brothers: Dale and Clifford Duwa; and two sisters: Velma Waldschmidt and Vera Gingerich.
