Mid-Prairie 64 West Liberty 55

The Golden Hawks jumped out to a 37-27 lead at halftime and pushed it to a 20-point lead by the end of the third quarter to eventually beat West Liberty in their season-opener.

Carter Harmsen led Mid-Prairie in scoring with 16 points off the bench on 6-8 shooting. Chris Miller and Aidan Rath each had 10 points. Brad Tornow had 7 assists.

Highland 61 Loiusa-Muscatine 42

Bill Laughlin was a perfect 5-5 from the field and scored 12 points for the Huskies in a 61-42 win over Louisa-Muscatine.

The Huskies combined for 17 steals with Cole Adamson having a team-high 6.

Zack Lasek and Mason McFarland each scored 14.

The Highland defense held Louisa-Muscatine to just 20 points through three quarters of play.

Lone Tree 70 Hillcrest Academy 64

Lone Tree used a double-double from Keegan Edwards to beat Hillcrest Academy in their first game of the season. Edwards had 30 points and 12 rebounds in the win.

Cory Krueger and Harmon Miller both reached double-digits for Lone Tree. The Ravens closed the gap as close as four points late, but Lone Tree was able to close it out with free throws.

Eli Ours had 28 points for Hillcrest Academy.

Girls

Lone Tree 62 Hillcrest Academy 31

Kasey Chown had a breakout game for Lone Tree with 16 points on 8-10 shooting against Hillcrest Academy.

The Lions combined for 35 steals in the game with Holley Johnson having 10. The Lions had three reach double figures with Chown (16), Josie Mullinnix (11) and Natalie Patterson (10). They are 4-0 for the first time since 2016.

Hillcrest Academy drops to 1-2 this season.

West Liberty 63 Mid-Prairie 61

Mid-Prairie drops to 0-2 with the loss, but both games have been one-possession games. Maddie Nonnenmann had 21 points to lead the Golden Hawks. Myah Lugar added 13.

Amara Jones had five assists and six steals.

Louisa-Muscatine 61 Highland 41

Hailey and Kylee Sanders combined for 42 points for the Falcons as they beat Highland.

The Huskies got 11 points from Alyssa Brase and eight from Abbi Stransky. Brase led the team with 12 rebounds.

The Huskies are now 1-3 to start the season.
