RIVERSIDE
Cole Smith, a Mount Pleasant native who is Executive Director of the Louisa County Development Group, was named Wednesday as the new City Administrator for Riverside.
The Riverside City Council approved his appointment by a 4-1 vote at a special meeting held Wednesday night.
Smith will begin work May 1. His annual starting salary is $80,000.
Smith is a University of Northern Iowa graduate with a degree in marketing management. He has been working with the Louisa Development Group since 2021.
“I’m looking forward to starting,” said Smith, who attended Wednesday’s special meeting.
Smith replaces Christine Yancey, who retired from city management last December.
Riverside Mayor Allen Schneider told The News that Smith was among a strong group of finalists. The four-month search was coordinated by Hinson Consulting.
