Bernard R. Moeller, 81, of Keota, Iowa, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Mass of the resurrection was held Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.  Memorials have been established for St. James Catholic Church.  Online condolences may be sent for Bernard’s family through the web at www.jonesfh.com

Bernard was born July 15, 1938, in Salem, Iowa, the son of Stacy William and Gwendoline E. (Pauly) Moeller.  He attended St. John’s Catholic School in Houghton, Iowa.  Bernard was united in marriage to Donna Mae Friese on April 28, 1962.  They were the first couple married in the new St. James Church.

Bernard farmed all of his life in the Keota area.  He was a member of St. James Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years.  He was also a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed doing puzzles and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Donna Moeller of Keota; son: Gary (Betty) Moeller of Cedar Rapids; son: Tom Moeller of Washington; daughter: Karen (Sean) Moore of Washington; son: John (Jamie) Moeller of Keota; son: Jerry (Amanda) Moeller of Washington; son, Jason Moeller of Keota; daughter: Renee (Todd) Cheney of Coralville; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers: James (Eileen) Moeller of Washington and Robert Moeller of St. Paul, Iowa; sisters: Ruth Ann (Glenn) Taylor of Ft. Madison, Carol Kulpa of Newton, and Barbara (Ron) Niehaus of Sperry, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter: Laura Moeller; brother: Leroy Moeller; sister: Francine Smith; daughter-in-law: Linda Moeller; brothers-in-law: Al Smith and Walt Kulpa; and sister-in-law: Florence Moeller.
