Auditor’s office will send only one ballot per voter

Absentee ballot request forms are being mailed by a number of groups and organizations. These are legitimate request forms.

Regardless of how many absentee ballot requests you have already received, or how many you will receive going forward, you only need to return one of them to the Auditor’s office.

We will send only one ballot, regardless of how many request forms we may receive from an individual.

Also, so you are aware, the Auditor’s office does not send absentee ballot requests to citizens unless a request is made.

Please make sure to fill in all of the required information, or we will be contacting you by phone or mail in order to obtain the missing information so that we can process your request.

The first day that absentee ballots will be mailed to voters is Oct. 5, which is also the first day that voters may vote by way of in-person absentee ballot at the Washington County Courthouse.

Oct. 24 is the absolute deadline to request an absentee ballot be mailed, and the request must be received in the Washington County Auditor’s office absolutely no later than 5 p.m. on that day.

In-person absentee voting at the courthouse begins Oct. 5 and ends Nov. 2, the day before the election.

Ballots returned by mail must be in our office no later than 9 p.m. on Election Day which is Tuesday, Nov. 3 or if received after Election Day, must be postmarked the day before the election or earlier.

Finally, polls will open at 7 a.m. on Nov. 3 and close at 9 p.m. for those citizens who wish to vote on Election Day.
