Easton Schlabaugh went 3-0 with a pair of first-period pins on the final day of the AAU Scholastic Tournament held in Orlando June 22-24.
Schlabaugh and Iowa Gold took first in the All-Star Bronze/Silver bracket after placing seventh in Pool A at the “Disney Duals.”
Iowa Gold went 3-5 in eight duals on Tuesday and Wednesday, Schlabuagh was 2-6 in Pool A with a pair of pins. His win by fall over Canyon Mullaney in 5:33 helped Iowa Gold defeat Montana Maroon 43-18.
Cael Garvey pinned Benny Alfaro in 1:23 as Iowa Gold won the 1st place match with the Nebraska Kernals by a score of 50-26 on Thursday. Garvey was 5-6 for the week. Josh Wallington was also 5-6 with a pair of pins in the fourth and seventh rounds of Pool A.
Carlos Vanelzuela and the Iowa Gables finished second in Pool F and fifth in the Developmental Gold bracket. Valenzuela had a 47-second pin in his first match on Thursday as the Gables moved on to the quarterfinals. He went 2-3 in Pool F and was 1-2 on Thursday. Valenzuela also won three exhibition matches.
